Book Coming out Soon!

By Stovall Weems
My first book is coming out this September.

The book is entitled Awakening. It is a very user-friendly, fresh approach to the God-first life. It is basically my life message about awakening to a whole new incredible world of feeling and experiencing God.

One of the main themes of the book is how we don’t just learn about God, but we experience Him. Another main idea is the incredible concept that we can feel God in an emotional way – that is when we experience God, it DOES affect us in the emotional realm. The book also talks about how to put God-first and focus on His love for you, rather than on trying so hard to stir up love for Him.

The Bible says that we love God because He first loved us. The best way to stir up love for God is by first focusing on how much He loves you!

This is a generation that has bought into the idea that truth is relative and subjective. So one of the ways they validate truth is through experience. This generation bases much of their lives on experience – what they can experience and feel is real to them – what they cannot feel and experience is not real (at least conceptually).

Through this book I hope to introduce to them the concept that you can feel and experience God just like you feel and experience other things in life, both good and bad. The God experience is the best experience you can have in this life, and hopefully many who read the book will be inspired to draw near to Him.

I understand we are not to be led by feelings, we are to be led by the Word of God and we walk by faith. However, God wants us to experience Him in our hearts and emotions.

A few of the chapter titles include:

  • It’s a Whole New World Out There
  • Feeling God
  • Do We Have It Backwards?

However nothing is in stone at this point, not even the title. So I would love your feedback on ideas, chapter titles, anything!

Thanks!

How about rather than using “Do We Have It Backwards?” as a chapter title, you use something like, “Have We Been Reversed” or maybe “Getting Reversed”? You’d then be able to apply the double meaning of moving in the wrong direction in the beginning of the chapter and then ending with returning to the Word to recalibrate – getting reVersed – Which, I assume, is what that chapter would be about.

Without knowing what the “It’s a Whole New World Out There” chapter is about – I thought that the idea of the life exchange through rebirth in Messiah could be interestingly communicated through, “It’s a Whole New World In Here”… just a thought.

..and, by the way, who’s doing your book cover?

What’s up one of my favorite pastors? Sorry I didn’t post in awhile. I haven’t been on the computer lately. I’m like terminator. I should have told you I’ll be back (just clowning). That’s going to be incredible and tight your first inspirational book. I appreciate you wanting feedback from us. The title is great and also it can use a subtitle like “The righteousness of a human soul” or “The spiritual eyes of life.”

I think it will best for you to come up with your title. Just read the Bible and take things from your lessons and experiences.

I was struck by this past weekend’s video message, especially the way Christians are sometimes perceived by non Christians and our behavior/tolerance towards others. Maybe tolerance could be a theme covered as you explore our need to focus on God’s love for us, how much he truly loves us and how much he also loves those that we may not love so much. There seems to be a certain amount of freedom in knowing that I can love everybody the same and not have to choose sides so to speak with regards to denominations, Biblical translations, someone’s sins, etc. I look forward to a great read and I appreciate the opportunity to share some thoughts.

I have an idea for a title for your book (or a title of a chapter).

Every Saint Has a Past, Every Sinner Has a Future

    Karin,
We are thinking about doing a chapter possibly called “God in the Raw” with some of those themes you mentioned. However that might actually be the title to the sequel book. My literary agent is already getting me to think about the sequel and I am thinking along the lines of “Substance Christianity” or “God in the Raw” or “Church in the Raw”. It has a lot of those organic concepts of being passionate for God and it being all about Him. Thanks for your feedback – very insightful.

Revelation…write it down! Thanks for writing it down!

    Pastor,

Let me say this, the God experience I had when I first attended Celebration opened my heart to the fact that true life is outside of my own selfishness. It kept me coming back to church, and eventually led me to Jesus.

The experience you have spoken of is an awesome roadmap to get closer to God. Once we have that experience, we can lead people to the Word, which will change their life forever.

I’m stoked that you wrote a book, I will be one of the first to buy it, and give some out to people as well.

    Press On

    Jason

Just one more comment. :) Being an organic lover how about a chapter title like Organic God or Organic Love…Just thought it captured His pureness.

Hey Pastor, I am so pumped about this book. I believe the title is so appropiate due to other books out on the market that have similiar titles that contradict the word of God. Praise God for the timing, it seems perfect!

Wow, this is going to be good and timely Pastor…so many people don’t know how to love God and get caught up in works which only makes us focus on ourselves. But like you said, when we focus on His love for us it makes it simple and achievable..And in my opinion that title is perfect!

    Pastor that sounds awesome.

As an extremely avid reader I would advise you to maybe have a subtitle. Something that gives the potential reader/consumer a direction on what the book is actually about.

Maybe The Awakening: How to achieve the God-first life…

Just something that describes the focus of the book.

When I go to the library or bookstore I don’t want to spend alot of time reading the back of each book. I look at the cover art, author, title/subtitle to give me an idea on what it may be about.

The old adage: “you can’t judge a book by its cover” may be true, however, you can get a glimpse into what it may be like and that could be the difference in impacting someone’s life (as you have mine) or them putting it down and moving on to the next book being released.

    Just some thoughts sir.

    Brett
