Book update

By Stovall Weems

I just wanted to let everyone know that my first book will be coming out later this fall rather than early fall.  We have been working very hard and really want this first book to have as much impact as possible so we just don’t want to rush things. I am finding out that so many things that are easily communicated while speaking (and sound great!) don’t necessarily translate on the page in written form.

We are not sure if the title of the book is going to be called “The God-First Life” or “Awakening”.  I will continue to update once a month on the progress.

    Stovall,

I think either idea for the title is good. I’m more in favor of “The God-First Life”, but perhaps the others are right and Awakenings is better.

What about putting it up to a vote at a Wednesday service?

    I can see it now…

You could say you want our opinion on the matter, but then warn us, at the end of the day it is your decision.

That would be a very Stovall thing to do.

But also, I would say one thing about writing. Just write how you speak. Yes, it is more colloquial. But there is nothing wrong with having your own voice.

    We can track it.

    Matt

I see that you’re not running with the titles. whatever title you come out with i know the book is going to relate to what you are writing about. I’m going to cop 2 or three. God bless!

“Awakening” would be an awesome title. And like you all said, that may reach people in the world. I remember you talking to us about reaching that “common ground” to relate to people in the world in order to bring them to Christ! I am sure whatever title it is, it will help bring others to know God through such a great Pastor.

…also excited about your book coming out. Wondered if it focuses on you from the aspect of a recent series wherein you said “…I realized I never really walked with God…” If so, “Awakening” would be perfect. Your series on that was very powerful. Kind of a “getting to know Stovall Weems”; and you being a real person, as well as a man that God is blessing and using very strongly.

I don’t think it matters what the book is called, because I’m positive God’s power, strength, and blessing is all over it!!! God will use this book to reach all the people HE intended to reach with it. God is in control….he WILL use this book to create his will in others life. I do like “Awakening”, because that is what God has personally done in my life through Celebration Church and the pastors there. God Bless you all!!!!

    Write on!
Book titles: 1. Acts 2: relived!
    2. Living the 1st Century Church in the 21st Century World
Ain’t nearly as Raw as John Wyatt’s choice, but…

These are all great comments. I agree that “awakening” would appeal to a non-Christian audience a little bit more. Thanks to all of you for your remarks.

I guess it should be inspired by any major bible references. Maybe something that doesn’t really explain the book away. Many people are drawn to the uncertain, unless their looking for a cook book. Hope it helps!!

Pastor Stovall we are sooo excited about your book. Your preaching led my husband, a prior atheist, to Christ. He gets very disappointed when he doesn’t get a chance to hear you preach. My momma always told me the key to a successful church is a darn good Pastor!

I’ve read that some Christian authors are really trying to get their publishers to get their books in other areas of book stores in addition to the Christian section. I guess not too many non-Christians hang out in that section (can you believe that?). Maybe something to consider (if you haven’t already).

    Looking forward,
    Mark

    I like the title, “Awakening”
I think if it was called “Awakening” more of the unsaved would be likely to pick it up.
Either way it’s going to be awesome!!!

Keep writing with the Fuego!!!! A first edition rush would have to add a mega appendix anyway, entitled ‘Multi-Gatherings: funneling the Mayhem,Chaos,OrganicTide’ Can’t wait to see what happens in the meantime!

Is the title, “A Little Bit o’ RAW MAYHEM!!” off the table? :) Can’t wait, Pastor Stovall!!
