Planning My Personal Calendar – Part 3
By Stovall Weems
In my last 2 blog posts, I’ve shared two of the filters I consider when planning. Again, the key to all of these is to seek God’s wisdom and commit to aligning ourselves with His plans. As we do, He gives us clear vision and directs our steps. Here is another filter that helps to make sure I’m letting God have total control:
3. Have I left enough margin?
I am very careful to not plan out every single week of the year. I always allow for margin. This helps me leave enough room for God to move and even interrupt things along the way. Planning and scheduling is great, but it’s there as a support and still requires some room for flexibility.
What filters do you use when planning?

HEY PASTOR!
Thanks for building margin in to address the Wednesday night crowd on fasting.
While you were talking about the significance of the number 21 God dropped into my spirit the mathematical formula 3 x 7 = 21 !
3 THE NUMBER OF DIVINE PERFECTION
7 THE NUMBER OF SPIRITUAL PERFECTION
The two together represent God x Perfected Man = Divine Spiritual Perfection !
Good thing you had some margin built into this week! Watching your heroes in the faith speak and then you tonight on TBN really got me fired up. Thank you for calling us up the mountain and helping thousands ignite the furnace and stir up the fire. Fasting and prayer may not be trendy, but it is timeless with eternal ramifications.
Pastor, I use the “will this be a benefit to our House?” That can be the house of God which we serve or the house we live in.
AMEN and AMEN Pastor !
I also use the ‘most bang for God’s buck’ filter.
Where will I make the most impact for God?
Am I using my BEST spiritual gift ?
I love to sing and play guitar, in the past I’ve led worship at other churches and groups and have even been in the choir at Cele.
After a hiatus for some night school classes, I was reconsidering re-joining the choir but in prayer I felt like God told me, “That’s not what you do best.”
I retook a spiritual gifts test @ http://www.kodachrome.org/spiritgift and it reconfirmed what I’ve always known (but didn’t think was ‘important’ enough for the Kingdom)
My #1 Spiritual Gift is HELPS and I’ve done that for my whole life in a professional capacity by doing some kind of Customer Service job (which many people look at as a no brainer job.)
It has to be my calling because even though I’ve tried other careers I keep ending up back in it. I’ve been doing it since 1982 and last year I even received Employee of the Year for my department.
So I guess it’s a no brainer that with God’s ‘best’ blessings I will be joining the awesome Guest Services Team at Cele.
Thanks for keeping us on the straight and narrow!
As a wise person once said, “Sometimes you have to give up God’s good for God’s best!”
I recently read a quote that says, “Decisions are easy when values are clear.”
Thank you for defining your values to us. As we follow your lead in our families and lives, we will find that it’s easier to make the right decisions faster and with less effort because of having clear and established values.
Great job!
