Passion, Drive and Humility – Part 2
By Stovall Weems
After passion, every leader must have drive and humility. Drive is the ability to deny and take up your cross and pursue the call of God and vision for your life. If we have drive but lack humility we will hurt people in the process, and even try to fulfill vision at the expense of people. If we have humility but lack drive we will not be able to endure the pain, hardship and suffering necessary to complete the task that God has called us to. Drive and humility are both key components a leader must have in order to grow and finish strong in God’s assignment for their life.

I like the line that reads: “If we have humility but lack drive we will not be able to endure the pain, hardship and suffering necessary to complete the task that God has called us to.”
mmm, that’s a good one to marinade on
We all know it, maybe even heard it before in a different way but man what a great question to ask ourselves in the midst of it all. Am I able to endure this pain, can I endure this hardship, will I be able to endure anymore suffering??? If not then you have lost the drive, that focused, “I/God can do this!” kind of drive.
Thanks for the mind provoking line
Excellent read. Having witnessed first-hand “drive without humility…even trying to fulfill vision at the expense of people”, it’s painful to see. That is not what God wanted from us, and He certainly won’t bless such “vision”. Drive & humility are the ONLY way to go.
great stuff… thank you for this!!!!
Good Word, Pastor! Every “successful” person I know is dripping with humility. Thanks for the clarity that comes from discovering that these two components must go hand-in-hand.
