Another update from Stovall

By Stovall Weems

Well, it’s on! My surgery is scheduled for February 9 (this Tuesday) around 9am. I am so grateful to God for Him bringing this to light and I look forward to a speedy recovery. I want to thank all of you for your continued prayer and support. My family and I are just overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and encouragement we have received from so many of you.

I am really looking forward to church this weekend and will share some additional news about my surgery and what the next few weeks will look like here at Celebration Church.  It is times like these where I am so glad that we have such a great staff and team here at Celebration Church. We will not skip a beat and February is going to be a great month and this year is going to be the best year ever!

Actually, I was going to be out for a couple of weeks anyway this month speaking at a couple of great conferences. I was scheduled to speak at the C3 conference  this month in Dallas, TX hosted by Fellowship Church and Pastor Ed Young. It is an amazing conference and I encourage every leader and pastor who has a passion for the local church to attend. This conference has had a tremendous impact on my life and Celebration Church as well. I was also scheduled to speak at the Corazon Conference this month in Lima, Peru. This is another great pastor’s conference hosted by Pastor Robert Barriger and Camino de Vida Church. Obviously I will not be able to make these due to my surgery and recovery but look forward to being part of those again in the future.

I will try and send out as many updates as I can from the hospital via Twitter and Facebook.  I should be out of the hospital in about a week and will hopefully be fully recovered in about 4 weeks. My goal is to be back in church the last weekend of February and back to preaching soon after that.

I pray for a safe and successful surgery. I pray for a quick and speedy recovery. But most of all I pray that I glorify God during this time of rest and repair and make the most of knowing Him in this difficulty. I humble myself under the hand of the Almighty and know that He will lift me up.

Keep God First! (Matthew 6:33)

Pastor Stovall, we are praying for you and all of your family. We know that God is with you and your family. He is going to give all of your doctors the knowledge that they need to perform your surgery with success. One of my favorites verses of the Bible is Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” We are all trusting God for your speed recovery so that we can all have you back soon to keep impacting many more lives.

I would like to let you know that my family and I will be praying for you everyday over the next several months. At 33, 2 mnths after delivery my last child I had a heart attack and coronary disection. You are so lucky to have discovered your inflamation before something tragic happen. I did not believe in god before my occurence but he has shown me the way since and I feel now that I truly have a purpose to be here. I have not discovered it yet but i do foresee the future alot now. I want to let you know I will be here for you and your family if there is anything you need. I have children 13, 5 and 3 and we will all be praying you have a speedy recovery. BUT please don’t rush it, I was unable to hold my baby for 2 mnths and my 18 mnth old for 4 mnths and its important that you do not try to over do it, you can damage yourself. I have been attending Celebration since November. You have really inspired me. I gave myself to god on Christmas eve and I begin giving my tidings!

    Pastor-
You are a true inspiration of faith and leadership. While we have not yet met personally, I am confident that you will triumph over this procedure and have another testimony to share. I had the opportunity to be at the 300 meeting kickoff…I have been waiting for God to show me a purpose and challenge to Rise Up! I look forward to getting more details soon regarding that. Your messages have inspired my wife and me as we have successfully battled her fight with breast Cancer. At 37 she is now 2 years Cancer Free! I share this testimony as an example of how the power of Prayer and Faith impacts us. Prior to moving to St. Augustine from Tampa Bay a few years ago, I was in a men’s group called “Wild at Heart” at Grace Family Church. I learned that when faced with trials and challenges I was repeatedly reminded to focus on the Word and some specific scriptures such as Jeremiah 29:11- The bottom line is…He has a Plan for you, He will Not harm you, He will continue to give you Hope and a Future!
    Stay Strong brother…

Stovall, we are covering you on the Prayer Line at Christian Life Fellowship in Baton Rouge. I have had some challenges lately and the scripture is so comforting. This one is my favorite, Romans 8:11 – actually made more personal. “The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in Stovall, permeating His life through his veins, sending healing through-out Stovall’s body.” In the Name of Jesus. We love you and Kerri!!!

  15. gary and Stephanie Brunk on February 6th, 2010 2:04 am

The Brunk family loves you guys!! We are lifting you up. I like what Ed said above. Rest. Rest in the peace of God. I pray your family can find peace and rest during this time as well. Take advantage of your recovery time. Play lots of board games with the fam and just cuddle up with that beautiful family you have. God is going to be glorified in this!!

Pastor, you are in our prayers! There is much work left for you to do! Kerri is in our prayers also, as we’re willing to bet that you’re gonna drive her nuts after the first few days of being home and taking it easy! Follow doctors orders and God will do the rest!

  18. Edwin Garcia on February 5th, 2010 7:42 pm

Pastor, sometimes God use times as this to make some us rest, and slow down, God not only is going to healed your heart but He’s going to give you the rest you deserve.

    We love you Pastor

  19. T.Cleaver on February 5th, 2010 5:33 pm

Pastor Stovall, you are so covered in prayer by the masses, this team of doctors will probably surprise themselves on how exceptionally well they complete their surgery with you, and it can be shared with them, God “had a hand in it”, giving Him the glory! Keep your note pad close by thru this time, as I’m sure God will show, share, speak to you, in a very impactful and dynamic way, that one might only experienced having gone thru this process. What a story you’ll be able to share. Jacksonville and beyond love & support you and yours and can’t wait for you to get your game face back on stage and do your thang, doing His work exceptionally well; you know how to do it no other way!
